The Hub 151 project is housed in the charming Shoebury Evangelical Church Building located at 151 West Road, Shoeburyness.  While the church property remains in the ownership of the Union of Evangelical Churches, Hub 151 is responsible for the property upkeep, events management and room hire.

Historically the Hub has been around for more that 10 years, under the management of charity My Town Southend (MTS) a Community Interest Company. The venue became known as the “Shoebury Hub” which was a shortened version taken from the project South Essex Community Hub (SECH) Shoebury.

However, when SECH relocated to a different building, they took  the name Shoebury Hub with them. MTS decided to rebrand to Hub 151, taken from the geographic location being 151 West Road Shoeburyness.

In June 2022, Lea Williams volunteered to take over the reins of Hub 151 from My Town Southend and a new contract was signed with the Union of Evangelical Churches. MTS now sublets ‘The Workshop’ space at the rear of the church to continue the Little Free Library project.

Our History

Behind the Yellow Doors

The vision that the UEC had for renting out the building has remained to provide a safe and caring place for the local community six days a week. Sundays are reserved for church services and Christian activities. As such Hub 151 continues to honour that vision and plays host to local charities, while working closely with the Balm of Gilead Church.
